    Director: Deborah I. Ross, M.A., CCC-SLP

Deb was educated in Speech/Language Pathology (SLP) at the University of California, Santa Barbara (#UCSB, #Gauchos) and the University of Kansas (#KU, #KUMED, #RockChalkJayhawk). She is a licensed SLP in the state of California, and has earned the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) awarded by the American Speech/Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She has been practicing since 1995. Her clients have been ages 0-107. She is an experienced lecturer, educator, mentor, and community resource in Speech Pathology. Ms. Ross has authored a variety of articles and educational tools. She has created innovative practices and programs for various outpatient, inpatient and private practice settings.  She is a two-time recipient of the American Speech/Language Hearing Association Award for Continuing Education (ASHA ACE Award) and strongly believes in exceeding the standards in her profession for continuing education.

Early in her career, Deb had the opportunity to work in homeless and battered women’s shelters with children needing speech and language services. A portion of all proceeds from San Diego Speech Therapy is put back into the San Diego community by supporting Deb’s ability to donate speech and therapy services to the abused and neglected children in our region. San Diego Speech Therapy is the means to support her belief in making a difference in our community one person at a time.

She believes in paying-forward the excellent mentorship she recieved early in her career and has educated many students, fellows and new-to-the-profession SLP’s. In the past Deb served as National Clinical Mentor for a large nationally known rehabilitation company. She was invited by the State of California to serve as Subject-Matter Expert twice. Deb’s vision for San Diego Speech Therapy is to improve the quality of life for people of all ages, and their loved ones, by providing education, expert assessment and skills training to minimize or eliminate the potentially devastating effects of communication and swallowing disorders. Deb has practiced in homes, schools, hospitals and private-clinic settings with a variety of diagnoses with neonates, infants, children, young adults, professionals, adults and geriatric clients.
